Your existing auto insurance usually covers your vehicle at a storage location, but confirm with your insurer. StoreMyCar also offers optional supplemental insurance plans. At minimum, keep comprehensive coverage active during storage.
Indoor garages offer the most protection and are best for valuable or classic vehicles. Covered carports protect from rain and sun at a lower cost. Outdoor spaces are the most affordable and work well for large vehicles like RVs and boats.
Prices vary by location and space type. Outdoor parking can start as low as $3-5/day, while private indoor garages range from $10-30/day. Weekly and monthly rates are typically discounted 20-40% compared to daily rates.
Consider your vehicle value, storage duration, and local climate. Indoor is best for long-term and valuable vehicles. Covered works well for moderate climates. Outdoor is most affordable for short-term or durable vehicles.
List your empty garage, driveway, or parking lot for free. Set your own prices and availability. Hosts keep 88% of each booking. A garage in a mid-size city can earn $200-600+/month with regular bookings.
Prioritize listings with security cameras, gated access, motion-sensor lighting, and smart lock entry. Indoor garages with locked doors offer the most physical security. Check if the host lives on-site for added deterrence.
Bookings are flexible — from a single day to months at a time. Many hosts offer discounted weekly and monthly rates. You can extend your booking if you need additional time through the platform.
StoreMyCar supports cars (compact, sedan, SUV), trucks, motorcycles, RVs, campers, boats, and trailers. Each listing specifies the maximum vehicle size, so filter results to find compatible spaces.
Not always. Many hosts provide remote access via lockbox codes, smart locks, or gate codes. Others may prefer to meet you for the first check-in. Access details are shared after your booking is confirmed.
File a claim with your auto insurer for vehicle damage. StoreMyCar offers optional supplemental insurance and a dispute resolution process to help mediate between guests and hosts.
